Ales and Tales

Ales and Tales is a weekly event originally conceived by Galenswerd, held on Landroval Server and hosted by Harperella of the Lonely Mountain Band. Each week, we meet and enjoy the pleasures of food and drink, music, dancing, tales and fine companionship. The entertainment is provided by the audience themselves, as individuals and groups come forward to offer tales, poems, and songs. Those in the audience may participate by drinking, smoking, sitting quietly and listening, kibitzing, dancing, giving out drinks and food, or whatever seems appropriate for your character to do in a pub. Its a great place to unwind after a hard day of fighting the shadow, as you kick back with a mug of ale and socialize with your fellow adventurers.

Date and Time

Ales and Tales is held every Monday at 10:30pm EST. It usually goes for 1-2 hours.

Nibbles and Nobs

The hour prior to Ales and Tales is Nibbles and Nobs, a chance to socialize and make a little music prior to the official event of Ales and Tales. Hobnob with the other patrons before the official event begins while you nibble on various snacks of your choice.

Location

Ales and Tales is a roving event. Each week sees a new location throughout middle earth. Some of the past locations have included such diverse locales as: The Prancing Pony, The Oak N Barrel (a player run inn), the Mathom Society, and the burnt remains of the Mad Badger.  The very first Ales & Tales took place at the Green Dragon Inn on August 17th, where all proper adventures begin.

Chat Channel - alesandtales

The official chat channel is alesandtales. This is a permanent chat channel that you can join via the command:
/joinchannel alesandtales

This will assign the channel to a number 1-4. Use this number to communicate on the alesandtales channel. Here's an example interaction:
[alesandtales] Harperella > *Harperella walks into the Ales and Tales tavern*
[alesandtales] Harperella > Can i get something cold and fruity?
[alesandtales] Tinki > Here's a blackberry ale I just got in, Harper. Hope you like it!
[alesandtales] Harperella > Delicious!
[alesandtales] Aethlin > You should try the Old Winyards.
[alesandtales] Galenswerd > Old Winyards!!! *takes a drink*
[alesandtales] Javelarry > Did anyone see where I put my pie?
[alesandtales] Lunnae > *smiles*

If Ales and Tales is our weekly floating pub, then alesandtales is our permanent virtual tavern. Use it for a little social RP while you are out and about questing through Arda.

Ales and Tales Twitter Channel

You can now follow @alesandtales to keep up with the latest news on this event. Pictures and names of performers are live-tweeted during the show. In addition, names of the MC and Stage Manager for the evening will be announced ahead of time in the Twitter feed, so that you know whom to tell if you wish to perform an act during Ales and Tales. You can contact the Stage Manager in game or sign up for the program by directing a tweet to @alesandtales.
