Description

Physical Description: Standing just about waist height to most "Big Folk," Cardinal is curvy, soft, and decidedly pleasant looking. Her skin is light and freckled where it is kissed by the sun, her hair is long, curly, and a striking fire-gold, a rarity for a Hobbit, and her eyes are green and full of laughter. Her lips, more often than not, are curved into a mischievous grin. She has a fondness for the color red and incorporates it into nearly everything she wears, even her armour. She has a flair for the dramatic and often wears wide brimmed, feathered hats or eye patches, simply for the fun of it.

Personality Description: Cardinal is slow to anger but quick to laugh, and loves nothing more than a good joke. You can count on her to say something ridiculous to lighten the mood in even the most dire situations. Curious to an almost dangerous point and more than a little brash, Cardinal seems to lack some of the "Hobbit sense" of her kinsfolk and often rushes into situations without thinking. She makes up for her small size by being loud and boisterous, it's nearly impossible to lose her in a crowd. Of course, she is a Burglar, and knows better than most how to be quiet when she needs to be, and if she doesn't want you to find her, you most likely won't. She is loyal to a fault and will fight fiercely for her friends.

History

An excerpt from the personal writings of one Cardinal Shadowfoot, on herself.

"So where to begin? I suppose the beginning is the best place. I was born in the Shire, as most Hobbits are, in a cozy little hole near Tuckburough. I was the youngest of nine, and the only girl child in my family. My family, in case you were wondering, is part of one of the largest and most prestigious families in the Shire. Since I left home, I changed my surname to Shadowfoot, so as not to bring shame upon them. Let us just say that my family's name starts with a P, and ends in -foot. There. Don't think that's too obvious.

Anyroad, I spent most of my early years following my brothers as they tramped across the Shire, and listening to old Bilbo's tales of adventures in the outside world. I was right broken up when he up and left, and me still just a tot! Anyway, I was a regular tom boy, and I can tell you I got into my fair share of trouble. Right from the start I was a sneaky, tricksey little bugger, and I loved nothing better than stealing pies, eavesdropping, and playing pranks on some of the more uptight Hobbits in the community. Oh, I remember the look on sour old Lobilia's face that time I waited in the tree over the road and dropped that bucket of custard on her head! Brings a tear to my eye, even now.

Some of the stogy older folk didn't like me much. Can't imagine why. Said I was a bad influence or something silly like that. The joke is on them, though, because even then, I had ambitions for greater things. I always meant to leave the Shire and go on adventures, no matter how much my brothers laughed at me. Cad, my oldest brother, said that all I needed was to find a nice lad from a good family and start having babies, then I'd settle down. The nerve! I never have forgiven him for that. I showed him, though, because at the tender young age of twenty seven I made good on my promise and left the Shire, heading for Bree and lands beyond, determined to see what there was to see.

I am twenty nine now. That was quite a while ago, and I have gone quite a bit farther than Bree..."

Current Status

Cohorts

Some time ago, Cardinal fell in with a group of adventurous sorts that had been charged by members of the White Council (among them Gandalf and Radagast) with many tasks across Middle Earth, in response to the creeping shadow of the Enemy. These Agents of the White Council fought the fell creatures of Sauron wherever they found them, and protected the Free Peoples from the growing dark. Still later, Cardinal left this group with a somewhat smaller band of close companions, calling themselves the Shadow of the Forgotten Souls, to wander the world where they would. Cardinal feels a close kinship to the others in this elite group, and would lay down her life for any one of them.

Whereabouts

Last anyone heard, Cardinal was expressing a desire to see the lands beyond the Misty Mountains. How she plans to get there is anyone's guess...

Home

Though her travels are long and far afield, Cardinal does return home to the Shire from time to time. With the gold she has collected from her endeavors, she has bought a cozy little home at No.6 Myrtle Court, Whinshot, the Shire.

Friends and Enemies

Friends:

Though Cardinal is fond of claiming that her only two friends are her sword, Vera, and her mace, Betsey, she is a friendly young Hobbit who has formed amicable relations with people across Middle Earth.

~ Any of her fellows of the Shadow of the Forgotten Souls. Particularly Irraen, an Elf hunter who has grown so fond of her small companion, she has adopted her as her daughter, Irraen's companion Faok, and Galdathor, a young Elf who Cardinal has taken under her wing and refers to, laughingly (for he is several feet taller and a few centuries older), as her son.

~ Peregrin Took. About the same age, the two grew up nearby one another in the Shire. If Cardinal is to be believed (and she can tell some pretty unbelievable stories with a few half-pints in her), she's never had any romantic feelings towards the young Hobbit commonly called "Pippin," but when the two of them were about 25, she took him up into a hayloft and, in her own words, "magic happened." We'll leave it at that.

~ Her pony, Stompy.

~ Barliman Butterbur, whom she often tries to charm into giving her free drinks.

~ Anyone who'll buy her a half-pint of ale or let her fill her pipe from his pouch.

Enemies:

Cardinal has few enemies, but she has a great hatred for the servants of Sauron, particularly Wargs and Spiders, whom she claims have too many legs and teeth for their own good.

Other than that... well, she's not too fond of the Sacksville-Bagginses, but then again, few people are.

Behind the Hobbit

Cardinal is played by Carly, a 21 year old chick from Austin Texas. She is currently working on getting her early childhood education degree from Texas State, working at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and has aspirations to teach Kindergarten. She is a big fat nerd.
