Captains have 16 class traits and 4 legendary traits that can be earned by deeds and quests. Below is a summary list of the traits, by level to begin the deeds/quests; requirements to get the trait, be it a deed or quest and a description of the benefits associated with obtaining that trait.

8 Turn of the Tide 250 Routing Cry landed on enemies.
(85 per day)
+3% damage and a 3 second stun added to your Routing Cry.
+10 Might
10 Captain's Valour 30 Summons of your Herald of War
(10 per day)
The might and agility increases provided by your Herald/Standard of War are more effective.
-2 seconds on Mark skills reset timer.
14 Fear no Darkness 500 Words of Courage used.
(100 per day)
Words of Courage greatly increases the morale of your allies.
+30 Power.
15 Loyalty Quest:An Inspiration to Men Your Herald is better armoured.
+2% Fear resistance
16 Strong Voice 200 Muster Courage used.
(50 per day)
-8% power cost on cries and shouts.
+30 Power
20 Expert Attacks 100 Devastating Blow landed.
(15 per day)
+5.0% Critical chance with your Devastating Blow and Pressing Attack.
+10 Might
20 Subtle Command 2,000 cries used. lowers your cries and healing threat by a medium amount.
+2% Fear resistance
24 Captain's Hope 60 Summons of your Herald of Hope.
(10 per day)
The morale-enhancing effects provided by your Herald/Standard of Hope are more effective.
-2 seconds on Mark skills reset timer.
26 Intimidating Shout 600 uses of Threatening Shout. Threatening Shout more strongly directs the enemy's ire towards you.
+10 Might
30 Defiance Quest:A Captain's Standard +10 duration to Last Stand and you are healed when it ends.
+2% Fear resistance
30 Now for Wrath 600 uses of Rallying Cry. Rallying Cry will also restore a small amount of power, in addition to its normal effects.
+30 Power
30 Blood of Númenor Revive 100 allies using Escape from Darkness or Cry of Vengeance Allies revived by Escape from Darkness will return with full Morale and more Power.
+30 Power
34 Captain's Victory 60 Summons of your Herald of Victory (15 per day) The power-enhancing effects provided by your Herald/Standard of Victory are more effective.
-2 seconds on Mark skills reset timer.

Captain Legendary Traits

As with other classes, Captains have 4 Legendary traits: 3 gained from books and the 4th gained by completing 2 class specific quest chains.

Below is a list of the 4 Legendary Captain traits. The first trait is from a book where the pages will drop for anyone with or without the book so may be traded, purchased in the Auction House or otherwise obtained by those,of that class, seeking that trait.

The Next two required books, you will need the deeds started to get the pages to drop from the appropriate creatures.

Oathbreaker's Shame
The Book of Oaths You levy a curse upon your foe which increases the damage you can do to it.
+35% to melee Vulnerability
+35% to Ranged Vulnerability
+35% to Magic Vulnerability
(5 min cooldown, 40 range, lasts for 10 seconds)

Escape from Corruption
The Candle's Flame You are able to revive and protect a fallen companion with 3/4 of their morale and 1/2 their power.
+50 All stats, or equivelant to your level
(lasts for 10 minutes).

Shield of the Dúnedain
The Treatise of Valour -75% Melee Vulnerability
-75% Ranged Vulnerability
-75% Tactical Vulnerability
(15 min cooldown, lasts for 15 seconds, costs 1/2 your max power)

After completing the 2 quest chains:

Implements of War
You will be given A Lesson from Boromir which grants the trait.
+50 All stats (or equivalent to your current level) to your Fellowship within 15 range of you
(Lasts for 5 minutes, 1 min cooldown)

Hands of Healing
The Path of the Healing Hands You are a paragon of healing on the battle-field.

Captain Level 50 Class Quest Items

The following items will be needed to complete your level 50 class quests.  Some of these can be collected in advance, others will only drop while you have one of the quests active.

Open World Drops:

  • 20 Grisly Bat Talons (from bats in Angmar, Moria, and Mirkwood)
  • 20 Corroded Neekerbreeker-Horns (from corrupted norbogs in Malenhad, Angmar)
  • 15 Coiled Spider Spinnerets (from spiders in West Angmar, Moria, and Mirkwood)
  • 15 Hateful Worm Eyes (Angmar or eastern side of Misty Mountains, Moria, and Mirkwood)
  • 8 Nasty Snowreap Knife (from Goblins in Misty Mountains), drop only with active quest
  • 12 Steam-Scorched Carapace (norbogs in Angmar), drop only with active quest

Instance Drops:

  • 5 Rotted Barghest Paws (Fornost City Instance and in Haudh Iarchith (aka Bree Rep Dungeon), or any level 43 or higher elite barghest
  • 1 Badge of Command (from Lagmas in Urugarth, or barter with skirmish marks)
  • 1 Purtried slime of Helchgam (from Helchgam in Carn Dum, or barter with skirmish marks)
  • 1 Teeth of Gorthorog (from Gorthorog in Urugarth, or barter with skirmish marks)
  • 1 Medallion of Passage (from any uruk in Carn Dum, or barter with skirmish marks)
