Description

A brown-haired elf with grey eyes and pale skin. Gilreth is of mixed Sindarin and Silvan descent - her father Cûmaeth is a Sindar elf born in Doriath whereas her mother Melís is a Silva elf from the Greenwood. Unlike many of Lórien she has no interest in bows preferring to dedicate herself to the quest for knowledge and a love of music.

Personality Description: Gilreth tends to be of a serious disposition and will rarely laugh or even smile except at the antics of her great friend and companion the dwarf Droroin.

History:

Gilreth is an elf of mixed Sindarian (from her father Cûmaeth) and Silvan (from her mother Melís) descent. She was born in Laurelindórenan in the second year of the third age. From a young age she had a quest for knowledge as well as inheriting her mother's skill at music. She has spent years travelling between the various remaining elven havens left in Ennorath although she has not been to her birthplace since her parents took the Straight Road with Celebrían in 2510, and since that date has spent much of her time in Imladris watching her granddaughter Mordarwen Colgariel grow up. Her son Colgar Barlasion in 1200 and her daughter Delevorn Barlasiel in 1935 were born to Gilreth and her husband Barlas - the first great sadness for Gilreth was when her husband was lost soon after the dwarves fled Moria when he was attempting the Redhorn Gate to take a message from Imladris to Lothlórien.

Since the loss of her husband and and and enhanced by the decision of her parents to go to the West, Gilreth has spent her time wandering the lands of Middle Earth calling no place as such home. She uses her skill in music to bring hope to all people and is willing to help all who ask. It was the chance meeting with a young dwarf in Blue Mountains that led to one of the strangest friendships she has ever had - that with Droroin. He rescued her from a pack of goblins and they spent several nights camping under the stars to give them both chance to recover. Then they went their separate ways, but met by chance again in Bree where he persuaded her to help him with the Dead who haunt the Barrowdowns. Neither ever speak of what happened but since that day they have been the best of friends and are only rarely found apart. He brings joy to her with his antics, and she has found a new love of metalworking through dealing with the repairs to his armour. He claims to have never had much skill at the forges, whereas she learnt to work with metal in Imladris when Mordarwen first started training as a warrior and has honed her skills much with the reluctant help of dwarves.
