[edit] Who should create a Kinship Page
Creating and editing Kinship Pages would probably best be left to Kinship Leaders or their designated representatives.
Minor edits by other users, to correct simple grammatical or spelling errors, for example, are fine. If you believe a Kinship Page, other than your own, requires editing of any significance, you should click on the Discussion Tab at the top of the page to make any comments or suggestions. Alternatively, you can click the "History" link at the top of the page to find the creator of the page, and leave comments or suggestions in that user's "Talk" page.
[edit] Starting a page from a search
To start a new page enter the name of the page you wish to create in the search box, and click search. If the page has not been created yet, you will be shown a page with a link to "create this page". Clicking the link will create the new page, which can then be edited. For Kinship Pages use the following format for searching, where "Kinship Name" is replaced by the name of the Kinship for which you wish to create a page:

[edit] Editing the page
Once your page has been created, click on the "edit this page" link to begin editing.You can edit the page with simple text entry, or you can use Wiki Markup to organize your page. A good way to begin is to check out other existing Kinship Pages, to get an idea. You can click the edit link at the top of one of the pages to view the way the page was created. Be sure to click the "Cancel" link, when you are through looking at the edit page. During editing of your own Kinship Page, you can check the results of your additions or changes, before saving them, by clicking on the "Show Preview" button.

You may want to put links to your Server Page, your Kinship Leader's User Page, the Kinship's "Type" Page, or your Kinship's website on your Kinship Page.
Here's how:

[[:Category:Server Name]] (Note the colon (":") that precedes "Category", this creates an actual link to the category page, rather than placing your page within the category (categorizing:see next section).
[[User:User Name]] (links to a user's Lorebook page)
[[:Category:Kinship Type]] (note again the colon preceding the word "Category)
[edit] Pipe Trick
You can change the displayed text of a link by using what is called the "pipe trick". This causes any text entered after the placement of a "|" symbol in the link markup to be displayed in place of the actual page name.
[[:Category:Server Name|Server Name]] (displayes the server name without the "Category")
[[User:User Name|Username]] (displays the Name of the user as the link)
[[:Category:Kinship Type|Type]] (displays the Kinship Type without the "Category")

[edit] External Links
Linking to external (non Lorebook) pages is somewhat different.
[edit] Basic External Linking
You may simply copy and paste the webite's URL into the body of the text.
You can also create an embedded (numbered) link.
[website url] (note the single brackets ("[ ]") used for external links, instead of the double brackets ("[[ ]]") used for Lorebook links)
To display your chosen text, instead of the embedded (numbered) external link, simply use a space between the url and whatever text you want displayed within the brackets.

[edit] Categorizing
Placing your Kinship Page into the correct categories is important.
Categorizing is similar to creating links, except the links do not appear in the body of the page.
A categorization "link" looks like this:

All Kinship Pages should be placed in "Category:All Kinships", and in "Category:Your Server Name:All". You may also place it in one or more of the "Type" subcategories.
[edit] Sorting
To sort your Kinship Page alphabetically on the category pages, it is easiest to use the "Default Sort" key. It will look something like this:
{{DEFAULTSORT:Kinship Name, Kinship:}}
For Kinships whose names begin with "A" or "The", the default sort key should look like this:
{{DEFAULTSORT:Kinship Name, Kinship:A}}
or
{{DEFAULTSORT:Kinship Name, Kinship:The}}
This will result in accurate alphabetcal sorting within every category page.

That's it!
Once you have edited your page to your satisfaction, categorized and sorted it, you're done. Don't forget to save your page, before exiting the edit screen.
