About Niasa En Estel

Website: http://shadowfireguild.guildportal.com

Niasa En Estel is a casual-friendly, roleplay oriented kinship on the Landroval server.

Our ultimate goal is to have a community where our members, regardless of their class or level or how often they can play, will be able to log in and have some fun with likeminded companions.  Whether it's just having someone to help gather those crafting supplies, or to tag along on a quest or two, to getting a group together for a skirmish or an instance, or even doing a raid from time to time, we want to be able to provide that.  At the same time, most of our members are working adults, with plenty going on at home, and we strongly believe that real life comes first.  Finally, here in Lord of the Rings Online, we focus on roleplaying when we're grouped up or in the same place as other kin members.  We do this because we feel that it enhances the game for everyone, when we are able to speak in-character.

We are part of the Shadowfire multi-game community, which has chapters in several different games and plans to grow into further ones.  Many of our members play other games simultaneously, or have in the past (many of us have been playing MMORPGs for 10 years or more!).  Our overarching goal in Shadowfire is to try and provide a community where no matter what game someone is interested in, they can find some new (or old) friends to jump into it with them.

Requirements

We have very few requirements.

  1. We ask that anyone wishing to join Niasa En Estel post an application on the Shadowfire website.  By doing this, it allows us to insure that you have access to our member forums.  It also gives everyone a chance to get to know something about you from the application.
  2. You must agree to the rules and guidelines laid out in the Shadowfire guild charter, located on our website.
  3. We ask that all of our kin members try to stay in-character when using fellowship chat or /say with other kin members.  It's up to you whether you roleplay with people outside of the kin (although we encourage it!)  Kin chat can be used for either in-character or OOC chat - we understand that sometimes people want to talk about stuff other than the game :)

That's it!  We do NOT require you to log on, to be a certain level or class, to craft, to contribute money, to show up at events, or to log into voice chat.  We just ask that you participate as much as you can, however you can, and that you do your best to make the game fun for everyone else when you play.

Special note on voice chat:  We understand that many players like voice chat and feel that it makes the game easier to play.  Because of this we operate a private ventrilo server which our members may use, in addition to the in-game voice chat.  However we also understand that there are many players who for various reasons are unable or unwilling to use voice chat.  Because of that, voice chat will never be required for anything that we do, and we expect kin members to be included in anything that goes on in game, even if they can't use voice chat.

History

Niasa En Estel was originally formed just after launch by one of our members, Thianna Willow.  It grew to a modest size and achieved several memorable deeds early in the game's history.  Unfortunately, real life reared its ugly head and most of the founding members ended up having their play time cut considerably.  Several months ago, we reformed the kinship with a new leadership team, and have been recruiting since then.  Our kinship has now grown to a modest size, with a very healthy and active core group of players.

Events

We pride ourselves on helping our members experience the fellowship aspects of the game (and soon, some of the raiding aspects). We generally run at least one pre-planned fellowship each week where everyone knows in advance that it is happening. We also have fellowships that form in kin chat frequently for things at all level ranges. Our website is set up so that members who need help with a quest or would like to do an instance can coordinate with each other to get everything finished, and our officers do their best to help fill in gaps in fellowships that form.

We also have special events every month or two that offer a chance for the kinship to get together and have some fun without worrying about levels or classes. Those are always posted well in advance on our website. We have talked about making some of them open to the entire server, and may begin doing that in the future, but for now they are usually kinship-only.
