As a full member you are expected to embody the traditions and culture of SC. Help guild mates, act with honor, show others and yourself respect. Enjoy as much as SC can offer. Also if you have an interest in being considered for more of a leadership role in the company, chat with an officer to discuss opportunities.

Speak to the Captain with your interest, lets chat. Being an officer is not a privilege but an honor/responsibility and with higher expectations of your contributions to the guild.
Expectations:
Drill Sergeants command respect and are considered junior officers of the guild. Drill Sergeants are critical in the Trooper evaluation process and key to maintaining our military style and culture. Drill Sergeants in addition to their DSGt duties may also be assigned to a Lieutenant in a special area of interest (Supply, recruiting, events, etc.)
Above all else, officers enforce and personally maintain honor and loyalty to the guild and its commander
Expected to be active in the guild. If RL or any other reason keeps you from performing your role you may be honorably moved to a Sergeant position.
This rank and above is considered an officer and as such officers are held to an even higher standard of conduct.
How to get Discharged:
· Become inactive (usually will mean a demotion to a lower rank as an officer)
· Show disrespect to another member of the guild
· Cause drama or a negative environment (we are all here to have fun even us officers)
· Lose your sense of selfless service to the guild
· At anytime you can request a demotion

Above all else, officers enforce and personally maintain honor and loyalty to the guild and its commander
How to get promoted: Chat with the Captain, lets talk. The key to promotion of all officers is listed at the Leadership Dimensions as posted on the Admin Desk. Of all the dimensions Loyalty (a two way street) is the single most important dimension of the current Commander and is a foundation for a good working relationship.
Lieutenant - The XO
The second in command of the company and may act as the Commander in his absensce.
Above all else, officers enforce and personally maintain honor and loyalty to the guild and its commander
They have full rights and authority of the Captain when he/she is away and often make command decision that impact the guild. The XO leads by example and provide a selfless service to the guild. They provide input and counsel and major decisions of the command. Their loyalty to the guild and their Commander is unquestioned.
How to get promoted:
Kill the Captain but if he catches your attempt and you fail, see loyalty section above.
The Captain
The commander of the Company. Has overall authority and responsibility of the success or failures of the guild. This includes:
Promotions and Demotions
Guild invitations and removals
Personally mentors the officers
Guild policy and strategic direction
Commander's Code: The Captan delegates and empowers as he/she sees fit. Accepts counsel from the officers and members of the command. However, the "plat stops here" and as such can adjust or change any rule or policy as he/she sees fit, at any time or place in order to quickly make decisions that are in his/her perceived best interest of the guild. Although any good leader will consider both the people and the mission, Shadow Company is not a democracy
SC's 10 Leadership Dimenstions / Officer Code of Conduct
He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander. -Aristole
Although originally designed as a code of conduct for our officers, these dimensions are a good roadmap for anyone that wishes to succeed in Shadow Company.
Shadow Company Officer's Guide: Code of Conduct
If you are interested in becoming an officer of the company, be aware we have an even higher standard for such positions. This conduct guide really is relevant to all members but I wanted to go ahead and post this from our officer forum so you know what you are getting yourself into and as a guide to how to act now if you wish a leadership role within SC.
With authority comes even greater responsibility. Officers adhere to a higher standard than the typical membership and are outlined as follows:
SHADOW COMPANY'S LEADERSHIP DIMENSIONS
1. Loyalty - Loyalty to the guild and your fellow officers – Perhaps the single most important trait I look for in a officer is loyalty to SC, its Captain, and your fellow officers. Without loyalty nothing else matters. Mistakes can be forgiven, disloyalty and cunningness with an intent for maliciousness cannot. Period.
2. No Drama – This is especially important to the officer corp. This include both OOC and RP drama. Do not bicker among eachother. Open and honest discussion is fine and encouraged. Personal attacks are not. You as an officer are expected to be “above it all” and strong. And never melt down in a public venue, you will lose the respect of those you would lead. Whenever possible handle disputes and conflicts directly with the members involved.
3. Honor – Act in a respectable manner. Do not flame others (in or out of the guild) in any public venue to include public game channels or public forums.
4. Truth – Do what you say and say what you do. Never lie to another member of SC (this includes OOC and RP lying, RP has consequences and is no excuse for misbehavior). Do not withhold information that is relevant to the success of the guild. Keeping confidence for someone in a personal guild matter is one thing, holding off on something bigger that can create drama or dissatisfaction with our members is not.
5. Respect – Always respect all the membership of this company and especially your fellow officers. Never insult or belittle anyone. Correcting behavior in a RP fashion to a more junior member is perfectly acceptable, harassment or guilt trips is not. Never OOC insult another member and always focus on behavior not the person.
6. Participation – unlike a Non-officer member you as an officer are expected to make an extra effort to participate in the guild. Whether that is with RP events, planning and executing group quests/hunts, raiding, forum posts, etc. Pick an interest and get involved.
7. Be Proactive - Understand and be a subject matter expert on posted guild policies. If there is a violation of a SC rule, fix it. This could be as simple as a on the spot correction to a violation of our /gu speak guidelines or another issue. If the problem is bigger or more complex work with the officer corp to address it. The quicker issues are resolved, the better. Be a Leader in this guild. Form groups, coordinate events, get involved.
8. Communication - If something is bothering you, ask the Captain. Let's chat. You will find I can be very reasonable and understanding. And please do not assume anything about another officer until you at least give them an opportunity to explain themselves. Be communicative and visible on guild channels.
9. Selfless Service - Being an officer means you must have a burning desire to support the guild above and beyond the typical member. Ask not what your guild can do for you but what you can do for your guild. This may include being a role model in such activities as generosity to the guild bank, mentor newer members, crafting for guildmates, help others with quests, etc.
10. Positive - Has a positive attitude. When bringing up a problem in officer forums, present not just a problem but its impact to the guild and potential solutions. And be specific. Minimize negative comments and posts. You should truly be enjoying yourself as a member of this guild and game (thus helping filter this attitude down to SC's members). If you are not having fun or are stressed let's chat and see how we can change/impact your personal situation.
Violation of any of these codes of may result in a demotion, probation, and/or removal from SC. I will treat each and every one of you like adults and to be honest much like I would past RL Army Lieutenants and Sergeants that I have lead. Hopefully you will appreciate the unique culture SC provides and its corresponding rewards, both personally and in-game.
