About Tirith Rhilshen

On Our Founding

Tirith Rhilshen is a roleplaying guild founded on the Landroval server in Lord of the Rings Online with the goal of promoting In Character interaction between the members of our kinship and as many other roleplayers as possible.

The Story: Tirith Rhilshen was formed by three natives of Lothlorien who chose voluntary exile from the Golden Wood in order to adventure through Middle-Earth. Initially, they sought to guard against and oppose the darkness of Shadow. As time progressed, they found that the bonds of family, flesh and blood proved worthier than lofty ideals and thus refined their kinship into just that: a group of kin, of family. Tirith Rhilshen is primarily an Elven House; however, all races are welcome.

On Gameplay

While roleplay is the unifying focus of the guild, you may find assistance with exploring, adventuring, questing, and crafting. We are, first and foremost, a roleplaying guild. We are not an adventuring guild, we are not a raiding guild, and we are not an endgame guild.

On Lore

As we hold that Lore is the "flavor" not the "recipe", we do not believe you have to have a degree in Tolkein Mythology and Lore to roleplay in Lord of the Rings Online. We do ask that our members try to keep their roleplay plausible within Middle Earth.

Requirements

Tirith Rhilshen requires that its members be active roleplayers. This involves attending community roleplay events and at least two fifteen-minute roleplay meetings at least twice a month. Other membership requirements involving our Alt Policy, Chat Channel Usage, and Conduct are listed on our forums.

Recruitment

To keep our numbers manageable, kinship recruitment is limited and selective. We are happy to play and roleplay with everyone, but not everyone is right for playing under the Rhilshen umbrella and wearing the Tirith Rhilshen tag. Potential members should have a good sense of humor and an appreciation of the absurd. If you don’t enjoy roleplaying and if you're the kind of player who thinks it's great to start /emoting inappropriately during a planned and scripted RP event, you will probably be miserable in this kinship.

On Ranks and Roles

Tirith Rhilshen rewards its members for roleplay activities, both in game and on the forums, with an In Character rank system. Members are asked to choose a role to play either as a member of the House (for instance, Lord, Lady, Son, Daughter) or as one serving the House (for instance, Scout, Provisioner, Ambassador, Scribe, Guard, Herald). The more a member participates, the higher his or her rank will be.

On Joining

If you are interested in joining:

  1. Read (and understand) our membership requirements listed on our forums.
  2. Register at our forums, and introduce yourself: Use the template format in the Introductions section and post a brief character bio and application in the Introductions section. You need to include in your bio why your character is seeking membership as well as the role (House Family Member, or "Vassal") you would be interested in playing with your character.
  3. Meet with the kinship to roleplay with us at one of our regular RP meetings, and let one of the Founders know you are interested in joining. You will be invited as a provisional member. If you are unable to meet up to be invited within one month, we will archive your application and you may apply again at a later time if you are still interested.
  4. Plan a roleplay event for the Kinship. After you are invited, you are considered a provisional member until you organize and calendar a roleplay event for the Kinship. This is not a high-stress event: It can be something as simple as hosting a social gathering for as little as fifteen minutes at a busy tavern, or as complicated as a storyline launch or a roleplayed quest using the game mechanics.
  5. Provisional members have two weeks at the lowest rank. If they have not completed their event by the end of those two weeks, they will be removed from the guild and can reapply when they have the time.
  6. Should your event go forward successfully (i.e., you put it on the calendar and show up), you will be promoted to a full member of the Kinship.

Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.

This may seem like a lot of jumping through hoops, but the purpose of this is to ensure that our members can start up roleplay with other people, and that they understand the importance of attending community events.
