The Valar Guild is an international society (using English for our Common tongue) of Tolkien appreciators and gamers founded on the principles of honor and camaraderie as espoused in The Lord of the Rings, founded October 4, 1997.

The group runs a Tolkien Site and games mostly on Lord of the Rings Online's Landroval server, with branches in "that other game" on World of Warcraft as Alliance on Lothar server and Horde on Uldaman server.

On LotRO Landroval, the Valar Guild has a light Role-play group that crafts, quests, and runs instances as a level 10 kinship with a kin house by Thorin's Hall. We have Ventrilo. On MyLotRO, we show as having a membership of 250.

Contact:

LotROmail or tell: Fainan (founder) known as Varda in the guild, or alts Timbridhil or Tinwetari. Any member can help.

Email: varda.elentari@gmail.com (usually checked daily at some weird time or other)

AIM: VardaValar1 or Eonwe Valar, usually found Sundays 5pm EST and onward for two or three or more hours.

Joining:

Full Member: Pass a simple, live entry test to show that you've read The Lord of the Rings, even if it was twenty years ago. We understand how the movie overwrites memories, forgetting details, and nervousness. We don't count off for spelling if we can see what you meant. Side information helps even if the main question is bombed. The test can be re-taken as often as the applicant can find a tester and, yes, we talk to each other. Mild language and courtesy are expected, as we bring our family and friends to the kin and don't wish to see them abused. All members are welcome to contribute to the Tolkien Site as well.

Member of Honor: A Member of Honor is the child of a Full Member to whom The Lord of the Rings has been read. This person's behavior is sponsored by the child's guardian. They are usually among our best-behaved members and often become excellent Full Members in time.

Tolkien-only Member: A Tolkien-only Member joins by contributing an accepted article (using only Tolkien's books, by either father or son, as references), story, poem, art, humor, language article, music or whatever else the creative minds of our members invent. Send the contribution to Varda's email shown above under Contact. Editing help is available, but make it the best effort before sending.
