In the early ages of Middle-earth, Morgoth, the dark Enemy of the world, corrupted many spirits to be his servants, including the mighty Balrogs. Though Morgoth was defeated, his servant Sauron remained and called unto himself all of his former master’s remaining minions. Some of the fell spirits that answered his summons took physical form as the terrible Gaunt-men, foul necromancers in the service of the Dark Lord.
Within the depths of Othrongroth, the Great Barrow in the Barrow-downs of Cardolan, dwells a Gaunt-man of terrible power. Thadúr the Ravager not only tends the wights of the Barrow-downs and helps the Wight-lord organize them into a dread army, but he has in his possession one half of the Skull Key that allows passage into the heart of Othrongroth.
Thadúr the Ravager, like all of the Gaunt-men, was created by the designers of The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™. Wherever the Gaunt-men dwell, expect the Dead as well.
