Oath of the Rangers is the first book of the Lord of the Rings epic quest line in Volume 3: Allies of the King.
The Shadow is spreading over Middle-earth, and the future king needs his allies to gather around him. Your part in the legend of the Ring continues as you must gather the Rangers of the North and bring them to the aid of their leader as he prepares to face his greatest challenge. You must race across the Northlands, where malice has already awoken and evil is growing, and marshal the Rangers to meet the coming storm. The fate of the king depends on this journey, and the hopes of all the Free Peoples of Middle-earth!
Chapter 1: Gallant as Elf-lords
You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Radanir, but first you must find him. Elladan can point you in the right direction, then Radanir will have an additional task for you -- a cave of orcs will need to be cleared out.
Chapter 2: Candaith's Hidden Cache
You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Candaith, who has an additional task for you -- a hidden cache needs to be recovered.
Chapter 3: Saeradan's Watchfulness
You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Saeradan, who has an additional task for you -- Barliman Butterbur needs to be warned (and Barliman needs some help too).
Chapter 4: Halros, Ranger of the Shire
You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Halros, who has an additional task for you -- some trouble-makers need to be taught a lesson. Halros also poses a difficult question for you.
Chapter 5: Loose Ends in the North Downs
You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Daervunn, who can tell you where to find Halbarad, who has an additional task for you -- a cave of Angmarim refugees are trying to restore the worship of Amarthiel and must be stopped!
Chapter 6: Farewell to Evendim
(solo quest) You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Calenglad, who has an additional task for you -- some robbers need to be taught a lesson. You also get a rare glimpse into Calenglad's personal life.
Chapter 7: Lothrandir of the Frozen Wastes
(solo quest) You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Lothrandir, who has an additional task for you -- a frightful menace must be stopped!
Chapter 8: The Depths of Duty
{skirmish) You must bring the news of Aragorn's summons to Corunir, who has an additional task for you -- a dear friend needs rescuing.
Chapter 9: The Gathering of the Grey Company
Having brought the news to all of the head rangers in the northlands, you must return and report to Elrond.
