From LOTRO Lorebook

Quest: The Thickest of Skins, Part IV
Repeatable
Category: Crafting
Scope: Crafting Advancement
Min Level: 35

The speed with which you can fashion animal skins into quality leather goods astounds those who have not followed a similar course.
'The tale of your excellence in crafting fine leather goods has spread far and wide, (your name), but I have heard of another that might have instruction to give you. Her name is Branda Rumble, and she can be found at Ost Guruth, the Ruin-hold in the Lone-lands.

'If she is half as skilled as her reputation would have me believe, she will indeed have much to teach you.'

Objective 1:
Branda Rumble is in Ost Guruth, the Ruin-hold in the Lone-lands.

You have been told that Branda Rumble might be able to teach you some more techniques to aid in your craft.

• Talk to Branda Rumble

Objective 2:
Branda Rumble gave you her notes on the fashioning of a drake-skin cuirass.

After boasting of her accomplishments, Branda Rumble eventually asked you to craft a drake-skin cuirass for her to judge both its worth and your own.

• Turn in Drake Hide
• Turn in Darkened Leather Guard
• Turn in Darkened Leather Binding
• Turn in Pristine Leather Brace

Objective 3:
Branda Rumble is at Ost Guruth, the Ruin-hold in the Lone-lands.

Branda Rumble asked you to make a drake-skin cuirass to prove your skill at tailoring.

It is with great joy that I set down these notes, the better to aid in your instruction! Let it never be said that Branda Rumble does not help those with less skill than she! A drake-skin cuirass may be respected for its durability, but it is really the notoriety of its acquisition that is important. Keep that in mind, my inexperienced tailor friend!

PRISTINE LEATHER BRACES Only the finest leather will do to form the braces of your drake-skin cuirass. I hope you have impressed some foresters during your travels, for you will need to convince one to treat six pristine hides for you if you expect to make the three leather braces you will need! The more ferocious the creatures from which the hides come, the better! Every element of your cuirass must be hard-won, or no one will take you seriously!

DARKENED LEATHER BINDINGS

Any tailor of your experience should be able to make darkened leather bindings with which to fasten the braces to the main body of the cuirass. Your friend the forester should be able to treat eight pristine hides and give to you the boiled leather that you need for the bindings. You'll need a polished adamant as well...prospectors sometimes come across these and may have some available for purchase.

DARKENED LEATHER GUARD

My comments on the bindings apply here as well, but you want to ensure that two layers of leather are used to strengthen the guard. It must be able to resist multiple hits from blunt weapons as well as sharp instruments if the cuirass is to last. No one wants to wear armour with a great hole in the side...it just doesn't look right!

DRAKE-HIDE

The hide itself is the most important part of a drake-skin cuirass, obviously, and you'll need to take that of the fiercest drake you can find! After all, people need to talk about your daring if you want to count yourself among the greatest of tailors. Look for drakes in Nan Amlug, in the North Downs -- one of them will surely have a worthy hide.

Once you have used these components to fashion a drake-skin cuirass, bring it to me, and I will see if you have made a worthy name for yourself by its creation!
