General Information

Gondamon is an area in Ered Luin, specifically the Low-Lands. It serves as a low level quest hub for elves and dwarves.

The Siege of Gondamon starts you at the center of town, with Mathi as the NPC needed to Defend. You will also start with 3 different NPCS to help you out; they can be class trainers, or simple guards. The different trainers will act like their classes. You will also receive more marks at the end of the battle for each NPC still alive.

Each trainer will take one of the 3 paths into town, South, West, and North, and help you defend it. Waves can come from any direction at anytime, and lieutenants come on average every 2.5 waves. After 3 assaults (multiple waves from a specific direction), the helping NPCs will leave to go secure their respective camps. At this time, it is advised to go to Mathi as enemies will drop in from the walls near him, and will funnel any waves to the stairs.

After 5 waves of enemies, which can include lieutenants, a drake will land near the northwest edge of the platform, and the boss will attack Mathi at about the same time the drake is attackable. Mathi won't live alone against the boss, so try to keep the drake facing away from Mathi and get it down quick. Then help Mathi kill the boss.

Special Encounters

None of the special encounters are much harder than a lieutenant, although you will find it hard pressed to be able to get a pull off during the waves.

From the North, South, and West, a flag carrier can spawn and attack the NPC there. The flag carrier will be announced with "A horn sounds from the north/south/west". It will still take a while to for him to get to the gate. When killed, he drops a chest that contains a flag that can be placed at the side they were killed, which will spawn a special elite. There is a message when the carrier is killed.

There is another type of special encounter that can happen. You will get a message saying that someone is trying to destroy Gondamon, and at what gate. After that an NPC will spawn to the left of either gate (east for the south gate, and west for the north gate) near the walls. You need to simply pull and kill him.

Tips and Tricks

1. NPC's cut experience in half. If you are doing skirmishes for xp, trying getting a good distance ahead of the NPC and take the pull yourself. You can always drop back to the NPC if you are having problems. Note: This is somewhat difficult of the north side without risking the loss of a different NPC if they attack another gate, as you need to be near the start of the ramp down to get them away from the NPC there.

2. Of all the trainers, the minstrel trainer can live the longest, as he will heal himself constantly.

3. It is possible to keep the pulls that drop down away from Mathi during the final assault, as long as you are standing just in front of enemies that come down, and let them move.
