Discussion on the Official Release Notes Book 14

I see once again the Champions have been totally left out of the upgrade. What would really help champions become more affective would be to reduce the timers on their skills. Atm every other class has some special ability that makes them invaluable to groups. What do champions have other then some minor dsp that they get from their weapons?

Burglars can cause a conjunction, sneak, and have decent dps.

Captains can rez, summon you, and they have heralds and banners.

Guardians can tank just about anything, keep agro, and can stand on their own if need be.

Hunters have way more dps then champions and have special abilities to port people, cure poison, plant enemies, can use the oils to increase their damage, and can flee from combat.

Lore-masters can rez, stun, heal, and have that cool area lighting that is very powerful.

Minstrels can rez, heal others and themselves, and cause a lot of damage on their own.

Champions can bonk to interrupt, so everyone else can kill it. Champions do need some help and some work done on them also. Having some specialty items (weapons, jewelry) just for champions that use vitality, agility, and fate to make them stronger would be very helpful also. When other classes 10 lvls below champions can out hit and kill faster then a champion that is just bad. I vote for Champions to be revamped with some descent skills so they will be more useful. And for goodness sakes please turn down the time it takes to use our skills, the thing is dead from other classes before the timers even completed for using our skills.

My two cents.

Champions

I have a Champion and im very sorry I picked him for my second level 50 player . I thought he would be a very good fighter , that know one could stand up to him in open battle I was terribly wrong . the only thing he does well is die , my lore Master is even tougher then him . I hope that the makers of the game will study him and find new ways that he can be more of a factor on the battle field ... Thanks

Champions

I was also a bit disappointed to see champs left out again, but as far as a character-type, I couldn't be happier with my champ. Knowing how to play one means knowing your skills and when to use them. It also means playing alone. The champion is the solo player's character. I wouldn't say he's useless in Fellowships, but he is the last picked.

CAPTAIN: "Well, we need one more and there aren't any more of our friends fellowing right now. You guys wanna get that elf champ we saw come through here before?"

LOREMASTER: "Sure."

HUNTER: "OK"

GUARDIAN: "I guess."

Now tell me you haven't been in that conversation before. If you haven't, it's because you were the champion they were talking about.

Bottom line is you're right. Champs need to be made more valuable in groups. Otherwise, the minstrels are going to stop healing us and throw us to the wolves.

If soloing is your thing though, the champion is great. Just bring along a few stacks of blackberry tarts and athelas.
