Description

While most guilds are very 1 dimensional (group or raid) or non-dimensional (casual and/or social) in their scope, The Council offers a very different dynamic.

Yes, Guilds facilitate end-game content or provide a means for social banter and casual fellowship. Yet most members share a great degree of indifference to their guild reality other than perhaps friendships shared. To a large degree most guild members exist as fringe entities, they participate as needed and rely on the guild as a means to end. It is a simple and well-defined overture.

Starshadow and now The Council is very different.

We believe that a kinship should have definable benefits that promote each and every members gaming experience. Our level of organization and quality membership maintain a highly proactive environment where by no member exists alone or is left to their own devices. The common kinship practice of setting priorities based on a few and forced on the many is not supported in our community.

Please visit our website and discover the many ways our kinship has defined a great experience. You will find our community completely free of any drama and supporting a mature audience. Of course we are not for everyone, but if you take your gaming time seriously visit thecouncilkin.com to learn more.

Membership

To join The Council you must first find any member to sponsor you. After a two week period you will need 3 total sponsors to upgrade your status from recruit to full member. Visit thecouncilkin.com for more specific details.

Your journey within The Council as a full member will begin as a commoner. Your sponsor and mentor will welcome you to the Council and bestow upon you a complete kinship outfit (the befits your rank) and submit an order to the House of Trade for a completely upgraded suit of armor and weaponry. After all, you now represent The Council and our fine craftsmen are eager for the work (one designated character under level 40 will obtain this upgrade automatically, higher level members may need to supply some materials).

Over the course of your first few weeks, expect to be visited by Ambassadors from one of the five Houses that make up The Council. These Ambassadors are charged by their House Patrons (or Matrons) to build the ranks of their respective houses (house details are available in the forums and our kinship section). Each House within The Council has its own ambitions and political identity. Instead of simply adding you as a member and asking that you wait to become more "valued" our inclusive system injects you into the kinship as a central figure and your story starts from the first day you become a full member.

Once a member joins a House they choose a role that is decidedly active or passive, attuned to that member’s needs and availability. There are also numerous honors to earn, rewards that can be bestowed and countless elements that add depth and purpose to the kinship experience. These same rewards provide added incentives to participate at every level.

As in Starshadow past, The Council as a kinship uses the detailed landscape around it and inherent game dynamics to develop a community experience which in and of itself is a reason to login and be counted.

From day one, your motivations and level of participation will chart a course that is self-realized. Whatever your interest (and there are no minimum requirements) you will be part of a community that is dedicated to each others welfare and like the Fellowship of the Ring, committed to the epic adventure ahead.

If you have found this page from our previous guild postings you will recognize that we have already created this type of kinship on countless worlds to varying degrees. The key has always been having the best and brightest people who want more out of their gaming experience.

We have the leadership, experience and commitment to make The Council a resounding success. As in the past we will implement community features that are best suited for LOTRO and continue to evolve the reality with the help of our leadership, our families and our members.

We focus on those elements that add depth to the entire gaming experience for the broadest range of players. Role-players, raiders and casual gamers will all find a comfortable experience. Player's whose only goal is to raid exclusively may not find The Council a good fit.

Requirements

Whatever your age or game level our focus is on the person. Maturity counts more than age, motivation more than levels and participation more than days played.

History

The Council was founded by Del Cabon and recently re-launched with the assistance of Gun. Del Cabon founded the guild Starshadow in 1996 on Ultima Online. At its height Starshadow existed on 16 MMO worlds and 21 servers with more than 4000 active members.

Our success as a guild was driven by some very novel concepts of organization and member participation. We are the answer to guild apathy. Starshadow became not only a means to an end but an equal and exciting part of the total gaming experience.

Today Starshadow continues to exist on numerous game worlds each unto itself and its own independent leadership.

While Starshadow remains a mark of our past, we begin the journey to make The Council part of Middle-Earths future and reveal to its storied inhabitants all that a kinship can become.
