LEGENDARY TRAITS
These are gained through legendary books for each class, the books drop randomly in areas lvl 39+, Trollshaws, Misty Mountains and Angmar, or may be bought from your class trainer.
They give an accomplishment to achieve in your class tab in accomplishments (shift + L) to talk to someone related to your class.
We get the wonderous Bilbo Baggins!!??
- Note 1: Bilbo Baggins is located in Rivendell, Hall of Fire in The Last Homely House
- Note 2: The trait maybe completed at level 39, but the first Legendary Trait Slot does not open until level 41.
Get the respective book, Book of Knives or Knee Breaker's Manual and talk to Bilbo Baggins to start collecting pages. Essentially the books are the quest starter.
The pages will NOT drop unless you talk to Bilbo Baggins that correspond to the book you wish to complete.
The Book of Knives and Knee Breaker's Manual (books, not the pages) can be found at your trainer. The pages for the books drop off of humanoid mobs, in areas given in the book tooltips, with specifics listed below.
Book of Knives: Flashing Blades
3rd Critical Strike response chain attack, follows Double Edged Strike (ie. BA->DES->FB)
- Pages: 3, 5, 12, 17, 18, 23, 26, 31
- First 4 pages from Iron-Crowns in Ram Duath, Angmar, or Orcs, or Morrovail "Mistress of Darkness"
- First 4 pages from Level 41 and 42 Iron Crowns (Thanks Cymb01!)
- Last 4 pages from Elite Spiders (lvl 41 -42) at The Wovenvales in North Trollshaws
Knee Breaker's Manual: Sweep the Knee
Your Trip skill does not break Stealth and recovers much more quickly. This increases your Trip ability. Decreases Trip reset time by 40.0 seconds
- Pages: 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 15, 16,19
- First 4 pages from Hillmen around Donnvail in Fasach-Falroid, Angmar
- Last 4 pages from Blogmal Orcs at Rammas Deluos in center of Thorhad along the dread statues, Angmar
- Last 4 pages also drop from Ongburz Skirmishers in Gorothlad (Thanks Cymb01!)
Expert's Guide To Dirty Fighting: Exposed Throat
4th Conjunction Starter
- Pages: 4, 5, 7, 12, 15, 19, 24, 28
- These pages randomly drop from level 39+ Humanoid mobs, known drops from Goblins in the camp at Western Malenhad, Angmar and Trolls in Trollshaws
Stick and Move
Any evades will trigger the critical response chain
Level 45+ Class Quests Completed - Listed Below
These quests below go in stages. I listed them in stages but to prepare for them you can buy the items that are currently highlighted in yellow. The warg-keepers token, although suppose to be able to sell on the AH, cannot be bought from what I am told (I am missing that one too ). If they are not highlighted, you must be on that stage of the quest to get the items to drop. Such items like the Blinding Snowbeast-Fur have about a 10-20% drop rate so do not be discourage, it drops, besides it helps towards the ever so popular determination trait.

PvE Traits
Well-Rounded Raid DPS/Debuffer
Very well-rounded class trait setup. Keeps in mind the whole raid and not just yourself.
- Class Traits
- Ambidextrous
- Appraising Eye
- Footpad or Leafwalker
- Hidden Dagger
- Disabling Attack or Opportunist or Trickster or Blind Fury (Order of Importance)
- Positional Modifier Increase - 6%
- In raid situation and even group situations you should always attack from behind. We have modifiers to do that, so use them
- Appraising Eye - 10%
- With multiple burglars in the raid the 10% does add damage output. However, it does not STACK as some might assume - it is not 10%+10%+10%. It would be 10%+5%+2.5% which is still 17.5% increase. Not to mention the 10 agility is a nice addition. An alternate to this trait would be another 3% Positional Modifier.
- Disabling Attack or Opportunist or Trickster or Blind Fury
- Coordinate with your fellow burglars in your raid to determine who will get what for their trait. We are debuffers and it is more effective to have a different debuff on the target than the same one due to diminishing returns (look at appraising eye). Blind Fury is more of a DPS increaser for the ranged as it adds 5% to their damage.
Pure Raid DPS
Very selfish setup for a raid but some people like to DPS. Tank and spank mobs will think twice on turning their back on you.
- Class Traits

- Positional Modifier - 12%

- Ambidextrous
- Appraising Eye
- Overwhelming Odds
- Perplexing Riddle
- Side-Step
- Agility Increase - 40
- Attacking from behind most fights (as you should). 12% increase is debatable than 40 agility since some of the agility traits give debuff traits such as appraising eye (2% increase). I do not have the raw numbers to determine which is better overall, but just incase I have posted both.

The "You can't hit me, neener neener neener" Build
- Class Traits
- Apprasing Eye
- Disabling Attack
- Overwhelming Odds
- Perplexing Riddle
- Side step
- Reasoning
- This combo is all about not getting hit. All 4 plus agility traits for this build. The line bonus give the most +agi possible which will improve both evade and parry percentages. Disabling attack adds in for a 5% less mob attacks ( 8.25% less damage **thanks blackc5**). Perplexing Riddle gives you the nice stun on humonoid mobs that can't be blocked by stun-immunity. Add this to our two other stun skills, and some stun-dust, you wont be taking many hits.
The "Daggers are a Burglars best friend" or "Small hits more often > Big hits less often" Build
- Class Traits
- Ambidextrous
- Apprasing Eye
- Cunning Wound
- Opportunist
- Swift and Subtle
- Reasoning
- Cunning Wounds for the bleed-bleed opening. Swift and Subtle due to the fact that with daggers you can get in three skills strikes in between BA's. Opportunist for the added crit percentage. Geared to make sure that BA is up every 5-6 seconds. This build provides for +4% crit on burglar skills with the line bonuses and another couple percent on for Trick: Counter Defence. Low on survivability from traits though with enough agility in gear this should be overcome, high on power cost due to the spamming of skills. Extremely high on fun.
The "I have no friends while leveling" Build or "Hybrid/Solo Burglar Leveling" Build
- Class Traits
- Ambidextrous
- Footpad
- Leaf Walker
- Perplexing Riddle
- Side-Step
- Reasoning
- This is the current combo I am using (or will be once I open up leaf walker, silly 10 minute cooldown.) Gives some nice sneak bonuses to get into higher level areas and not be attacked by every train that is coming out. Perplexing Riddle for the stun-lock sequence. Ambidextrous since it is the biggest DPS incresae per trait. Side-step for survivability.
The "I might not have the highest DPS, but my group does" Build
- Class Traits
- Appraising Eye
- Cunning Wound
- Opportunist
- Overwhelming Odds
- Perplexing Riddle
- Reasoning
- Cunning wound for the bleed-bleed opening that almost never pulls agro from the tank. Perplexing Riddle because it is a must in PUGs. This builds main traits are opportunist and appraising eye. These traits will maximize your contribution to your hunter friends DPS. I am guessing it will work well with the legendary trait that lets you stay stealthed after a trip, but can't say for sure since I havent tested it out yet. I imagine starting skills would look something like:
- RW while sneaking.
- Trip to start a conjunction.
- Cunning Strike on main target.
- Pick your color.
- CD on main target.
- Cunning strike to get the bleed-bleed effect going.
- Perplexing riddle on any adds.
The "Dreams of being a Tank in leather pants" Build
- Class Traits
- Blind Fury
- Disabling attack
- Perplexing Riddle
- Side-step
- Trickster
- Reasoning
- Able to off tank better than most burglars. Blind Fury to pull mobs off the healer, and provoke to keep them on you. Side-step/disabling attack, and perplexing riddle cause really the only way for a burglar to off-tank is to not be getting hit. The line bonuses will give you a decent boost in MG as well as uping your agility a little. However since this is a low DPS route, the mob you are trying to tank better be one that no hunter or champ is hitting.
PvMP Traits
The "Sneaky Mace Wielding for DMG Build by Sneaks" Build
- Class Traits
- Footpad
- Hidden Dagger
- Lead Walker
- Strike From Shadows
- Side-step or Ambidextrous or Focused eye
- Reasoning
- Originally posted by Sneaks in http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=47424. (have to give credit, where credit is due.) If you agree with sneaks' reasoning or not, this is a viable build. This build gives a total of +12% to the positional multiplier bringing it up to 27%. Good build for short fights where the big opener will outweigh sustained dps, group fights where the tank is taking all the hits and you can sit behind the mob and whack away, and supposedly PvMP, though I cant say sure on the last one, never played it myself.
