Official Game Entry

Thorin II, noble Dwarf of Durin's Line and king of Durin's Folk, accomplished a heroic task when he led a small company of Dwarves (and one reluctant hobbit) to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dreaded dragon, Smaug the Golden. Thorin succeeded in his quest, but sadly perished not long after, in the Battle of Five Armies. Still, there is much more to tell about Thorin and his deeds prior to that fateful quest. Legends tell of heroic battles alongside his father Thráin II, and of difficult years spent in exile after Smaug's arrival - years that saw Thorin lead the surviving Dwarves from their lost home to the Blue Mountains (also known as Ered Luin) in the west.

Thorin Oakenshield appears in The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, despite the fact that he met his end some seventy-seven years before the War of the Ring. Players who start the game as either a dwarf or elf will begin their journeys in the Blue Mountains, many decades before the events chronicled in The Lord of the Rings. Players will be able to interact with Thorin, and other famous dwarves of his Company as they make preparations to reclaim the Lonely Mountain.
