Bio

Ithildir was born in 435 of the the First Age of the Sun in Hithlum, on the northern shore of Lake Mithrim. His father was Ithilras of the Noldorin House of Fingolfin, and his mother was Malwen of Ossiriand. As they were of two kindreds, the Noldor and the Silvan Elves, Fingolfin himself foretold that Ithildir and his sister, Eledhwen, would have to choose between the two paths. Ithildir chose to serve the Noldor, and ever after served Fingolfin's House, whereas Eledhwen chose her mother's Silvan kindred. Ithildir's grandfather on his father's side, Telepwë, was the husband of Fingolfin's sister, Findis, who was in turn Ithildir's grandmother. Ithildir befriended Fingolfin's grandson, Ereinion, and their friendship would endure forever. After the Dagor Bragollach, which ended the Siege of Angband, and the death of Fingolfin, Malwen and Eledhwen fled to Ossiriand and were welcomed by the Green-elves. Ereinion was sent to Cirdan at the Havens by his father, Fingon, who was now High King of the Noldor. Fingon also sent Ithildir to seek out his brother Turgon in Gondolin and bring him word of Fingolfin's death.

Ithildir remained in Gondolin until the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Battle of Unnumbered Tears, where he saw his own father die before his eyes. Fingon was also killed. Turgon was now High King, and Ithildir remained with him in Gondolin until its fall. Then he passed through Doriath with the renmant of the Gondolindrim and came to the Isle of Balar. Ithildir's best friend, Ereinion, then became High King, and he was called Gil-galad ever after. After the Kinslaying at Havens of Sirion, Ithildir was taken captive by Maedhros and Maglor, along with the brothers Elrond and Elros, but early on was pitied by Maedhros and set free.

He then dwelt with Gil-galad on Balar until the War of Wrath. It was then that he met the love of his life: Anarië, the daughter of Ingwë, King of the Vanyar. She came as a healer with the hosts of the Valar. He would have returned with her to Valinor, but was stopped by the herald of Manwë, Eönwë, who told Ithildir that they could never be together until all evil was banished from Middle-earth forever. Anarië went back into the West wothout him, and he returned to Gil-galad at Balar, heavy of heart.

After the destruction of Beleriand, Ithildir dwelt with Gil-galad in Lindon, where he was granted rule of Forlond in northen Lindon. During the War of Sauron and the Elves, his mother, Malwen, was killed by Sauron himself in Eregion. Ithildir served Gil-galad until the War of the Last Alliance, where Ithildir was mortally wounded by Sauron himself and Gil-galad was slain. Itildir was crushed by the death of his friend and lord and mourns even still. He cursed Isildur and hid bloodline for his folly. That curse would not be lifted until Aragorn brought him the Signet of Adunië from Umbar, the Circlet of Paitya from the King of the Easterlings, and killed the greatest Chieftain of Harad and seven chieftains of Rhûn. Even then the curse was only lifted from Aragorn. The curse over his people could be lifted until the Ring was destroyed.

During the Third Age Ithildir has further ruled Forlond (a minor title after the death of Gil-galad). His sister, Eledhwen, serves Thranduil of the Woodland Realm. Ithildir is a member of the Wise and the White Council and now fights continously against Sauron and his servants.
