Physical Description: Brár is a broad-shouldered dwarf with a head of rust-red hair and a thick beard. In battle, he can be seen arrayed in mail and helm (of his own make) and wielding a great two-handed hammer. For journeys he dons a purple cloak.

Personality Description: The things that Brár values most in the world are his father Nár, a pipe full of fine tobacco, the continued defeat of all foes of the Dwarves, and his own smith-work ... more or less in that order. Hardy and well-traveled (he has made the journey between Ered Luin and the Iron Hills several times), Brár can handle himself and is comfortable among folk other than his own kind. He is particularly well-disposed toward hobbits -- both because of the deeds of old Bilbo and for the excellent tobacco they grow.

Brár hails from the distant dwarf-cities of the Iron Hills, where with his father Nár, a renowned shieldsmith, he resided in relative peace until recent years. With the spread of evil and the growing threats in the far East, old Nár became troubled, and five years ago he and Brár removed permanently to a new home in the Ered Luin. But their time of peace was short, for with the rise of Angmar and the corruption of the Dourhands, it became clear that even the Blue Mountains were no place of safety.

A dwarf of great strength and prowess, Brár has been obliged to fight time and again in order to protect those things he holds dear. It has also become clear to him that the problems of the North are not merely Dwarvish troubles. Thus, in 3016 Brár conceived the Mithril Circle, a society of friends from across the North, to share news and provide aid in this time of distress. He founded the group with solemn oaths alongside several trusted comrades, including Cyanne Eldarsong, a former tavernkeep; the Ranger Barandil; and fellow dwarf Rawmat. Many others have joined the fellowship in the months since.

• Dourhand Dwarves: Brár is enraged by the treachery of the Dourhands, and rarely passes on a chance to punish them. Such deeds provide him a grim satisfaction at best, for the slaying of Dwarf by Dwarf is a shameful thing even when justified; but this only fuels Brár's anger all the more, that the Dourhands have forced decent Dwarves into the necessity of kin-strife.

[edit] Current Whereabouts

• At present, Brár is dwelling among the Eglain in their camp in the ruins of Ost Guruth. Here, for the last two months, he has earned a living crafting and repairing armour for the badly underequipped Eglain. He has also provided some solid dwarf-advice for repair of the crumbling walls. Brár is waiting patiently for a chance to strike at the necromancer Ivar the Blood-hand, known to be nearby in the fortress of Garth Agarwen. Ivar must be made to pay for his role in the raising of Skorgrím Dourhand. Once this is achieved, Brár will leave his Eglain friends for the next leg of his journey -- whatever that proves to be.
