Few among the Wood-elves of Lothlórien speak any language besides the silvan tongue of their own land. Those who know Westron are often sent abroad as scouts, emissaries and messengers, when the Lord and Lady of the Wood have need of such. Galmir is one of these.

Earlier in the year, Galmir was sent over the Misty Mountains on an errand to Lindon to gather news. There he stayed until autumn; but as he began his return journey, word reached him that the Nine Riders had been spotted in Eriador. These dire tidings convinced him to tarry longer in the North, for this is a matter which concerns all Elves. On the advice of first Gandalf and then Radagast, Galmir continues to lend his woodcraft and bow-strength to aid in the current peril faced by Eriador.
